Week 28, Day 3
Objective: recognize distinctive and shared characteristics of cultures through reading; understand cultural background to literary texts, grade level vocabulary, and listening for understanding.

  1. Bell Work: During the 1920s alcohol was illegal.  Write about ONE of these two topics.(Remember to use the correct number of words and to use at least two SAT words) 
    1. What would happen if alcohol was prohibited today?  
    2. Currently, marijuana is illegal (in most places.) What would be the result if it were to be legalized across the United States?
  2. "My Ethics, My Codes of Life" Assignment

    2. This is not a LONG essay.  Don't complain!!!
    3. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!  Ask me about anything on there that you don't understand.  I am HAPPY to help you!
    4. Due Dates: Thursday
      1. Rough Draft-TOMORROW at 4:00pm (but preferably in class)
      2. Revising and Editing-tentatively in class on Wednesday, April 8th
      3. Final Draft-Monday, April 13th at 4:00pm
  3. Begin brainstorming/pre-writing for your essay. Then, begin working on your "My Ethics, My Codes of Life" rough draft. 
    1. Use the document that was shared with you on Monday to help you figure out which ethics you would like to write about.  
    2. You should leave class today with SOMETHING.  Use your time wisely!
    3. Rough Draft is due tomorrow for a daily grade (No, you will NOT get class time to work on it.)
    4. Use Rachel's Essay as a guide
  4. Reminders:
    1. Week 28 DRE is due tomorrow.
    2. No school on Friday.

    4. Free Rice...this is the only way you will be able to have a daily and quiz grade dropped.  I will announce the numbers that you have to get to.  But know that they will be pretty high...like above 25,000.
