Bell Work: Every year schools try to come up with ways to save money.  It seems like the education budget is always getting cut.  Come up with at least five ways that schools could SAVE money and five ways that schools could MAKE money.   Be creative!  (Remember 80 words and at least two SAT words.)

1. You will be expected to take notes (handwritten) as we read.  
2. You will be able to use these notes on your quizzes over the chapters.  
3. The quizzes will be VERY detail-oriented.
4. If you are absent, please catch up BEFORE you return to class.  I would encourage you to get with a classmate to know how much we read.  
5. If you want to bring your own copy of the book, you may do so.  
6. If you lose your school-issued book, it will cost you $15.00 to replace it.
7. I HIGHLY encourage you to check out Spark Notes, Cliff Notes, or other web resources IN ADDITION TO reading the text.  It will help you with understanding.  It WILL NOT take the place of reading the actual book.  Do NOT rely solely on those resources

1. Bell Work:  During the 1920s alcohol was illegal.  Write about one of these two topics.  1. What would happen if alcohol was prohibited today?  2. Currently, marijuana is illegal (in most places.) What would be the result if it were to be legalized across the United States?(Remember to use the correct number of words and to use at least two SAT words, preferably from Week 25.) 
2. Grade quizzes from "The Lottery"
3. Pass back graded papers.
4. Work on The Great Gatsby Treasure Hunt
1. This is an introduction to the novel we are about to begin.

3. Bell Work: Who is the audience of your resume?  How does this change the way you write it/the language you use?  Write about the importance of having an up-to-date resume at all times.  
4. Work on your Leadership and Membership Resume and Professional Resume.  Today is the last class day to work on them.  They are due FRIDAY, March 7th at 4:00pm.
