Week 9, Day 2
Objective: Poetry, Vocabulary Development

1. Bell Work #6-Identify the FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE used in each of the following sentences.  Then, EXPLAIN HOW you know which FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE is being used.
1. The child bounced the ball at the backyard barbeque.
2. It was a stormy night and the lightning danced across the sky.
3. (Note-as long as you use complete sentences for your explanation, it does NOT have to be 50 words nor do you have to use SAT words.)
2. Week 8 SAT Quizzes passed back
1. Corrections for Week 7 are due Wednesday by 4:00pm.
2. Corrections for Week 8 are due Friday by 4:00pm.
3. You are going to read two poems titled "The Ex-Basketball Player" and "Miss Rosie."
4. After reading the poems, with your group, answer the Reading Check Questions (on paper.)
5. Then, you are going to read "The Base Stealer" and "To Satch."
6. With your group, answer the Reading Check Questions (on paper.)
